Expanded Greenbelt Council

The Government of Ontario is adding expertise and expanding the Greenbelt Council to advise the Minister of Municipal Affairs on related land use plans, including the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe and the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan. The success of the Greenbelt Plan is dependent upon the successful implementation of these and other provincial land use planning initiatives.

David Crombie, former Toronto mayor and former federal cabinet minister, will serve as the new chair of the expanded council as it continues to provide advice to the Minister.

The councilís expertise will help to ensure that growth in the Greater Golden Horseshoe is effectively managed to protect the environment, ensure a thriving agricultural sector, and lead to the development of complete, transit oriented communities.
