Co-ordinated Review Advisory Panel and Town Hall Meeting Summary Reports

On February 27, 2014, the co-ordinated review process of the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the Niagara Escarpment Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Greenbelt Plan was initiated.

An Advisory Panel was appointed to develop and propose recommendations on how to amend and improve the plans. Chair David Crombie, along with five other members, attended public meetings, reviewed the plans and relied upon their knowledge of the region and issues at stake to provide input and recommendations.

After months of deliberation and hard work, the Advisory Panel has completed its work and submitted the report: Planning for Health, Prosperity and Growth in the Greater Golden Horseshoe: 2015 – 2041. The report’s Executive Summary is also available.

The Co-ordinated Land Use Planning Review Summary Report on Town Hall Meetings is also available for download. It summarizes the main themes that emerged during the 17 town hall consultation meetings.

The Government of Ontario will take the Advisory Panel report into consideration along with all of the comments submitted for the co-ordinated review in drafting proposed changes . There will be an opportunity for additional public input expected to begin in the winter of 2016.

Thank you to the Advisory Panel and to everyone who participated in the consultation process. Learn more.

Places to Grow Implementation Fund

The Places to Grow Implementation Fund supports projects that promote and help achieve the policies or goals of the Province’s growth plans -- the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2006 and the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario, 2011.  The fund awards grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 to support a limited number of innovative projects.

In 2015-16, priority will be given to research initiatives and projects that build awareness and understanding of growth planning in Ontario with a focus on enhancing implementation of growth planning policies, for example, building complete and resilient communities, integrating cost-effective infrastructure, and curbing urban sprawl.
